While there is a sense of comfort in returning to my humble abode, it feels as if I've left true paradise behind me. Perhaps it's the food, the people, the atmosphere ... actually, I am sure it's all of those things combined that make me consider Taiwan as my real home. And though my mother seems quite relieved to have parted from the summer weather -- the kind that leaves you feeling perpetually clammy -- I'd be more than willing to persevere through the heat, just for more time to enjoy all the wonderful food and spend more time with the family I love.
